This evening, gamerbase trocadero and Nintendo Official Magazine hosted a very special pre release event for the highly-anticipated Metroid Other M game on the Nintendo Wii.

Over 100 journalists, bloggers and lucky metroid fans came to gamerbase to get a chance to play Metroid other M before its official release next week. A Metroid Prime Pinball high score competition was also held during the event, to which the winner received a magazine subscription of their choice from Future Publishing.

About the Game
Metroid: Other M takes the best elements of 1st-person and 3rd-person gaming to create a seamless blend between gameplay, story-telling and dynamic cinematography, that feels like a movie the player can control. Players hold the Wii Remote controller sideways while navigating and battling in 3rd-person. However, at any moment, players can switch immediately to Wii Remote pointer controls to examine and explore the environments in 1st-person perspective.

The Nintendo Official Magazine will have an indepth write up about this event Next Week.

Today is definitely a day to remember with the official FIFA 11 available to preview exclusively here at gamerbase Manchester.
Over 30+ dedicated fans have traveled from all over the UK to take a sneak peek at this sporting revolution.

The contained excitement is slowly bursting at the seams, the players are just itching to get their hands on more play time.

[12:30]
Around 20 players lined up outside gamerbase Manchester, nervous fidgeting, sparkling eyes and cheek raising grins fill the entrance!

[13:00]
More players, alot of them still feeling nervous and are still trying to contain their excitement. Plenty of non-Fifa players hovering around looking very impressed ;)

[13:30]
Even more players and even more noise! Everyone is starting to get settled now, making new friends, new rivals and experiencing the wonderful new game. Community Manager 'Phil' and Circle Agent 'Mitch' are getting down with the players, enjoying the atmosphere and making everyone feel right at home.

[14:00]
Players who don't even play sport genres have been lured in by the swift fluent graphics on Fifa 11! Confused as they are, they seem to be enticed by this phenomenon! Still more players coming in too, everyone is getting along well and discussing the subtlest of changes, these hardcore fans sure know what they're talking about! :)

[14:30]
Short review of what our Pure Card winner, 'Adam Pottage' thinks of the game:
"Fantastic graphics, very smooth and crisp. The passing is really fluent and refined whilst the players feel weighty and realistic, it feels like they've taken all the great things from Fifa 10 and South Africa and combined them to create this fantastic game. Penalties are abit hard though, it's quite difficult to get used to, but it just a matter of practise.
It feels like you have more control of everything on and off the pitch, from player and ball movement to tactics, it's mesmorising and indulding." - Adam Pottage.

[15:00]
A Madden NFL lover has been converted and is eager to try Fifa 11! Gamescon trailer for Fifa 11 is captivating all the spectators!

[15:30]
Fruitful cheers and disappointing mourns echoes the room as players pour their hearts into every moment.

[16:00]
Next batch of Fifa 11 preview participants slowly marching in respectfully and eagerly! I feel quite touched by these emotional dedicated fans :')

[17:00]
Players are now challenging one another, coming out of their comfort zones to take on a real battle. During one of these fierce rival matches I witness a fantastic play. The ball was played down the wing, switched to the other side stretching the midfield creating an oppurtunity to feed a beautiful throughball slicing through the centre of defence and perfectly placed for the centre forward to slot it in the corner of the net. This is Fifa. ;)

[18:00]
A few players have left to get some food together, mutual friendly bonding through a common game brings a tear to everyones eye. From trash talk to friendly banter to a newborn friendship.

[19:00]
Everyone is still hacking away, absorbing as much as they can before they are deprived of their new found love. Players are feeling reminiscent already, reluctant to let go of their dear pads.

[19:30]
The day is almost over now...everyone has been notified they have only a few minutes left. Sudden sadness overcomes everyone.

[20:00]
The day ends on a high note with plenty of postive feedback, the fans loved every moment of it, they couldn't express enough how much they enjoyed the game. Players are now looking forward to our launch tournament for Fifa 11!

An inspiring day indeed.

We will be celebrating the release of this super fanatic football game of the decade, 'Fifa 2011', with a huge launch tournament and massive prize for the winners. Make sure you don't miss out! Click >>[HERE]<< more details on the tournament!
Scheduled: 12:00 BST, 26 August 2010 to 16:00 BST, 26 August 2010
Schedule: Passed

On Thursday 26th August at our Gamerbase Trocadero site, we are running a FREE Modern Warfare 2 tournament on PC between 12noon and 4pm, in association with Dolby Axon and Plantronics. Anyone is invited to take part, and you have the chance of winning one of 15 Plantronic 777 7.1 headsets using our Frag Lotto tournament structure!

Head down to the London Trocadero for 12 noon to take part. It's completely free to enter! We will also have representatives from Dolby, Plantronics and Team Dignitas there to help you fine tune your game!

Thanks to Dolby and Plantronics, all our PCs in the Trocadero will be replaced with brand new Gamecom 777 headsets from this Thursday onwards!

COD MW2 PC Frag Lotto Tournament

The Frag Lotto system works as follows.

Every Frag or point in game earns that player one lotto ticket. At the end of the event all frags or points made by the player will be added up and calculated into lotto tickets.

Then all eyes will be on the Gamerbase tournament organiser as they draw a number using a random generator, the player with that lotto ticket number will win the prize! Using this system often rewards players who finish even outside of the top ten scoreboard.

The better players will have more tickets and therefore have a better chance at winning, but even if you finish with just one point you still have one chance of winning the top prize.

As usual Manchester were putting up a strong fight to be crowned as the #1 Gamerbase centre in the UK but against overwhelming odds jordang2104 from Glasgow and Guy001 and EastAfricaFinest from Trocadero were going strong to represent their centres in the final 5 races!

With S3AD0GS out of the picture for the second week in a row, it looks like Rhodog of Manchester decided that now was his time to strike and takes first place in 4 out of 5 of the final races, conceding the fifth to old time Manchester rival Chris1689!

A brilliant second place finish in the final race pushes Chris1689 from 5th place into a firm joint third with fellow Manchester player Phill24!

This led us to a Manchester Grudge Match to determine who would take the third place prize. Taking to the streets of Hackney, the racers each vowed to win, but in the end it would be phill24 who would lift the trophy of third place.

1. rhodog@manchester - 44 Points
2. jordang2104@glasgow - 33 Points
3. chris1689@manchester - 31 Points
3. phill24@manchester - 31 Points
5. AdamAKASpoon@manchester - 30 Points
6. eastafricafinest@picadilly- 21 Points
7. guy001@picadilly - 18 Points
8. Undertaker2009@manchester - 11 Points

1. rhodog@manchester - Winner of 25 Hours
2. jordang2104@glasgow - Winner of 9 Hours
3. phill24@manchester - Winner of 4 Hours

Fraglotto Winner - AdamAKASpoon@manchester - Winner of 25 Hours!

A big congratulations to our winners! With 8 Points awarded for first place down to a single point for eigth place, how this epic clash has affected our leaderboard?

1st - rhodog@manchester - 34 Points
2nd - S3AD0GS@manchester - 32 Points
3rd - phill24@manchester - 23 Points
4th - chris1689@manchester - 21 Points
5th - AdamAKAspoon@manchester - 19 Points
6th - jordang2104@glasgow - 13 Points
7th - danny3962@manchester - 12 Points
8th - guy001@piccadilly - 7 Points
8th - chaos phoenix@reading - 7 Points
8th - benrodda@reading - 7 Points

Striking back with a mighty 8 points Rhodog@manchester has siezed the first place position and is looking strong to hold it there, will we see a return of S3AD0GS next week to reclaim his title as leader of our nationwide Blur Season?

A big thank you to everyone who came and we will look forward to seeing you again next Friday.

Saturday the 14th of August saw the final 'Dramatic Battle' before SVB20X taking place at Gamerbase Glasgow!

Attendance was excellent with around 30 competitors showing up for the chance to compete for honour, hmv vouchers, and a Golden Ticket (FREE seeded entry to Super VS Battle 20-X!!)

The competitors started arriving just after 11am and the casual practice stations were quickly filled with players warming up and perfecting their moves.

The tournament itself kicked off at 12.30pm sharp. The competitors were divided into 4 groups, with the top 4 players from each group advancing into a 16 man knockout bracket!

The players were divided up into 4 groups. 1 Group of 7 and 3 groups of 6.

The top four players from each group would progress to the knockout stage.

In group 1 Milligano stood out as a strong favourite to win the tournament as he won every single one of his group games, dropping only 1 round in the process!

Ragequit also performed well, coming second in the group.

In group 2 strong performances from Samurai Drew and SamuraiPizzaKen saw them take slots 1 and 2 respectively.

Group 3 was also dominated by the favourites with Branstar and Vilestylez placing p1 and p2.

In group 4 Kevc88 and criptic dominated, placing p1 and p2 as well.

The other qualifiers were: TarekObama, Sabredog, Redking, Redrain7, Affro, Breslinabrb, K4ne360 & Swav_gav.

Competition in the knockout rounds was fierce with a number of favourites from the group stages falling by the wayside.

An excellent performance from Group 1 2nd place qualifier RageQuit saw him defeat Group 1 favourite Milligano in the semi-finals.

The semi-finals also saw an epic encounter between Branstar and Samurai Drew, with Samurai Drew eventually snatching victory 2 games to 1.

Raqequit and Samurai Drew met in the final and at first it seemed as though Samurai Drew would have an easy victory, quickly going 2 games up. But with the finals being best of 5 games Ragequit had a chance to up his game and he came back strong taking a hard fought game from Samurai Drew to bring the score to 2 - 1.

Unfortunately the comeback was short lived with Samurai Drew dominating the 4th game to win the final 3 games to 1 and take 1st prize!

Final Results:

1st - Samurai Drew
2nd - Ragequit
3rd - Branstar

A Massive congratulations to the winners and as always a huge thanks to all the competitors! See you at the next one!
